Salsa Cruise Asia 2009 ( SCA’09) started with a keen spark when four salsa enthusiasts wanted to create a larger than life event with just an idea. James Thum, the Project Director of SCA’09 initiated the idea when an Australian friend mentioned the Sydney Harbor Cruise. Having attended various salsa festivals and events, James was curious. An initial research proved the lack of big, grand salsa events in the Asia Pacific region. This got James keyed up and he soon roped in his wife Audrey Lai, a professional salsa dancer and Creative Director of SCA’09, Timothy Low, founder of Casa de Latinos (www.casadelatinos.com) ( the pioneer salsa community website/blog) and PR Director of SCA’09 and finally Tamie Lum, seasoned salsa dancer and Sales and Marketing Director of SCA’09.

The four as SCAsia Sdn Bhd put their creative thinking caps on in early 2008, and thus embarked to create the biggest, boldest and grandest salsa event on board the luxurious Legend of the Seas of the second largest cruise company in the world, Royal Caribbean International Cruise Line.

Salsa Cruise Asia 2009: Dance with the World is a 6 days 5 nights event starting 22 nd to 27 th November 2009 on board the Legend of the Seas. It is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle through a dance-themed cruise vacation featuring more than 30 world class dance instructors and performers thereby attracting dance enthusiast and travelers alike from all over the world to participate in this event. This event is expected to be attended by 2000 participants from all around the world whilst traveling across 3 exotic Asian destinations i.e. Singapore to Malaysia and finally, Phuket, Thailand.
